Holiday Breaks

The Pear Tree at Purton is set in seven and a half acres of gardens, surrounded on all sides by the rolling countryside of Wiltshire, yet it is less than two hours from London and the Home Counties either by car or train. If you are coming from overseas, the hotel is a very easy trip down the M4 motorway from Heathrow Airport.

There are dozens of great places to visit nearby - see Explore. Alternatively you can "chill out" in the garden or by the log fire with a good book and perhaps a nice glass of wine. The main gardens have fabulous herbaceous borders, and a lily pond just outside the restaurant. Further down the garden, we have developed a wild flower meadow, a wetlands, a copse, a beehive ( we serve our own honey at breakfast ), and a vineyard with 600 vines ( our very first wine should be here at the end of March 2011 ).

For some people, a three day break once or twice a year is a relaxing part of their life - many bring canine companions. For others the location is a brilliant place for a family get together or a reunion. There are nearly always really great value offers available - see special offers.

How to get to us

From Junction 16 of the M4, take the Wootton Bassett exit and then follow signs to Purton. At the Best One/Hartford House Stores, turn right and after a large 's' bend The Pear Tree is 50 metres further on (do not turn down the road towards the church) on the left-hand side.

The nearest station is Swindon, approximately five miles from our hotel, where you can catch a taxi from outside the station.
